About

A site about one job, in one city: putting a code-conforming egress window into an Edmonton basement.

What this is

Egress Windows Edmonton exists to do one thing well — help Edmonton homeowners get a basement bedroom to a legal, safe escape window, and connect them with the work that makes it happen. Enlarging an existing opening, cutting a new one, and building the well that serves it.

The reference pages on this site are the other half of that. The Edmonton egress landscape is full of pages that quote a window price against an installation question, state building-code figures three different ways, and never mention the engineering requirement that most affects what a project costs. Getting those right is worth doing on its own merits, and it is a fair test of whether we know the subject.

How a quote request is handled

A request comes in through the form. It is read by a person, not sorted by a bot. We come back either with a quote or with the questions we need answered to produce one — some openings can be assessed from a description and some genuinely have to be seen.

Where a request is better served by another trade — a foundation problem rather than a window problem, or water appearing inside the basement — we will say so rather than quote around it.

What this site does not claim

This is a new site, and it is deliberately quiet about things it cannot yet demonstrate. You will not find review counts, star ratings, project totals, years in business, crew sizes, certifications, licence numbers, insurance claims, warranty promises, response-time guarantees, or before-and-after photographs presented as our own work anywhere on it.

That is not modesty — none of those have been verified, and publishing an unverified trust signal is exactly the behaviour that makes contractor websites hard to trust in the first place. As real, checkable business facts exist, they will appear here, and they will be checkable.

How the reference pages are maintained

Every code requirement and every fee on this site is traced to a City of Edmonton, Strathcona County, Government of Alberta or National Research Council document, and each page carries the sources it relies on and the date they were last checked. Building requirements and fee schedules change. When they do, the pages get updated and the date moves — the date is a factual claim, not decoration.

The authority having jurisdiction always has the final say on a specific project. Nothing here replaces confirming your own situation with them.

Where we work

Edmonton and the surrounding municipalities. Because each municipality issues its own permits, the service area page is organised by permit authority rather than by a list of place names.

Request a free preliminary project review with optional photos and measurements, or send a simple quote enquiry. This is not an official inspection or a booking.
