Information on this site is general

The building code requirements, permit information and cost factors published here are general information about egress windows in Edmonton and the surrounding area. They are not a code ruling, an engineering opinion, or advice about your specific property.

The authority having jurisdiction over your property has the final say on what your project requires. Confirm your own situation with them before you build, buy materials, or rely on anything here for a decision that costs money.

Regulatory information can go out of date

Building requirements and municipal fee schedules change. Every page that states a code requirement or a fee names the source it came from and the date it was last checked against that source. We update them when we become aware of a change, but there will always be a window between a change happening and this site reflecting it. Treat the source as authoritative and this site as a guide to it.

Cost information

This site does not publish prices for our own work. Municipal fees are quoted from the authority that publishes them. Any third-party cost range on this site is attributed to its source and describes other people’s projects — it is orientation, not a quote, and nothing on this site constitutes an offer.

Quote requests

Submitting the quote form does not create a contract and does not oblige either party to anything. A quote becomes binding only when it is issued in writing and accepted. See the privacy policy for what happens to the information you send.

Links to other sites

This site links to municipal, provincial and federal sources, and occasionally to third-party publications. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. They are linked because a primary source is better than our summary of it.

The text, diagrams and design of this site are its own work. Municipal and provincial requirements described here are, of course, the property of the bodies that publish them, and are cited rather than reproduced wholesale.
